Douglas Glenn Cyr was the son of James Whitey Bulger, an American organized crime boss. Bugler had him with his wife of 12 years, Lindsey Cyr. However, they later separated and eventually divorced. Douglas died at a young age, and his parents were quite devastated after losing him. Douglas died of Reye’s Syndrome following an aspirin injection and he was only 6 years old at the time of his death. As they were walking out of the hospital after their son’s death, Bulger was holding Lindsey’s hand and said that he was hurting so much.

Douglas Glenn Cyr was born in 1967 in Boston. At the time of his birth, his father James Whitey Bulger was involved in various criminal activities, but then he loved his family. According to his wife, James always turned to his family, which included his wife, mother, son, and brother Billy. He was quite close with his son, and he was just unlucky. Douglas was diagnosed with Reyes Syndrome, and as such, he was supposed to undergo treatment.
Reports indicate that Douglas’s condition was triggered by an allergic reaction to an aspirin injection. Douglas was at the hospital on the night of his death. His parents were by his side and were both negatively affected by the death of their son. Despite being a gangster to the outside world, James had a soft side when it came to his son. He was a loving father, and the loss of his son did a number on him.
Life After His Death
Douglas’s parents had been together for about ten years, and Lindsey had stuck with James despite his criminal activities. They loved each other; however, the loss of their son broke them. They began growing apart; they had some marital issues, and they decided to separate. Despite being separated, they tried to stay in touch, but they outgrew each other, and their bond eventually broke.
His Father
The name Whitey Bulger is a name that is common among most Americans, especially residents of Massachusetts. Douglas’s father was born to Irish parents, who later moved to Boston. From a young life, Whitey was drawn to the street life. He did not do well in school, and as such, he turned to thug life. He began with stealing and engaging in street fights. Due to his reputation for stealing and street fights, Dougla’s father began meeting experienced criminals who gave him lucrative opportunities.
At 14, Whitey had already been arrested once for larceny. He later joined another gang with whom he engaged in various activities, including assault, armed robbery, and forgery. He was arrested and sentenced as a juvenile. Dougla’s father could get in and out of prison for various offenses, and his name had become common in Boston prisons.
In the 1970s, he began the Winter Hill Gang, which he used to control the Southern parts of Boston. For most of his life, Douglas’s father was engaged in criminal activities, and he died on October 29, 2018, after being beaten by inmates.
